These days I was browse Reddit and came across a post about how challenging it can be to re-enter the Brazilian tech job market.

But does the market really define our careers?

I believe that by using some more assertive strategies, it’s possible to increase your chances of success.

Here are some tips:

Sharpen your resume and online profile:

Keep your resume updated, concise, and focused on your most relevant skills and experiences for the jobs you’re targeting. Use important keywords for the tech field.

Your LinkedIn profile is your professional showcase. Keep it complete with an attractive summary, highlight your main skills and projects, and participate in relevant groups within the tech industry.

Networking:

Attend events, workshops, and meetups related to your area of expertise. This is a great way to meet people in the field, exchange experiences, and stay updated on market news.

Use LinkedIn to connect with professionals in the field, former colleagues, and recruiters. Share relevant content and interact with other people’s posts.

Continuous development:

Invest in online courses, bootcamps, or certifications to enhance your skills and knowledge. This demonstrates your interest in staying current and competitive in the market.

Develop personal projects to apply your knowledge and showcase your practical skills. Share these projects on your GitHub or online portfolio.

Job platforms and recruiters:

Register your resume on job platforms like GeekHunter and Revelo.

Get in touch with recruiters specializing in technology. They may have access to unadvertised job openings.

Prepare for interviews:

Before the interview, research the company, its products, and culture. This shows your interest and helps you answer questions with more confidence.

Prepare for common tech interview questions and practice your answers. Ask friends or mentors to help you with mock interviews.

Adapt to trends:

Stay updated on new technologies and market trends. This allows you to direct your studies and apply for jobs that require in-demand skills.

Beyond technical skills, develop your soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Companies increasingly value these abilities.

Be persistent and patient:

The job search can be time-consuming and frustrating. Stay positive, keep applying for jobs, and keep improving your skills.

If you’re not selected for a position, ask recruiters for feedback. This can help you identify areas for improvement and increase your chances in future interviews.

Re-entering the job market is a process that requires time and effort. Stay updated, enhance your skills, build your network, and don’t give up!
